History of Diving Museum: Spiegel Grove Exhibit (March 30 – September 4 in Islamorada)
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the sinking of the USS Spiegel Grove, which was used to create an artificial reef within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Adults and children alike can take a deep dive (pun intended) into the history of the project and learn more about this 510-foot vessel and its environmental impact.
21st Annual Key West Lobsterfest (August 10 – August 13 in Key West)
Thousands of seafood lovers head to Key West each season for this lively “Crustacean Celebration.” Attendees can fill up on their fair share of lobster during a four-day extravaganza that includes a lobster boil, street fair, free concert, and more.
Inaugural Islamorada Grand Prix of the Sea (August 19 & 20 in Islamorada)
Watch as Powerboat P1 brings AquaX and Superstock races to the shores of Islamorada. This up-and-coming sport promises to bring an action-packed two days to the Florida Keys with nonstop powerboat racing. The entire family can enjoy watching Yamaha personal watercraft racers, P1 Panther race boats, and more during this free event.
National Park Service Birthday Celebration (August 25 in Dry Tortugas National Park)
National parks around the country will be waiving admission fees as the NPS celebrates 101 years of service. In honor of this special birthday event, we recommend planning a day trip to Dry Tortugas National Park, located 70 miles off the coast of Key West.
Eighth Annual Key West Brewfest (August 31 – September 4 in Key West)
Sip delicious domestic and imported brews while supporting the Key West Sunrise Rotary of the Conch Republic during this Labor Day Weekend festival. In addition, the best IPAs, pilsners, lagers, and more, this perennially popular event will also feature food pairings, live music, and dancing.
