Key West is famed for its New Year’s Eve celebrations, from the Shoe Drop at the Bourbon Street Pub/New Orleans House complex, to the Conch Shell Drop at Sloppy Joe’s. But for those wanting a slightly tamer celebration – one the whole family can enjoy – there is still lots to enjoy in the Florida Keys.
Live Music at The Hurricane Grille, Marathon
A favorite with the locals, The Hurricane Grille is Marathon’s go-to spot for live music. The New Year’s line-up is yet to be announced, but you are sure to dance your way into 2019, Florida Keys style.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks, Key Largo
See the Key Largo sky light up as the back bay hosts the Keys’ annual fireworks display. You will find the action near the mile marker 104 area at Blackwater Sound – approximately 60 miles from Tranquility Bay.

At the opposite end of the Keys, discover a ‘wiener wonderland’ as 200 dachshunds (and their owners) take a picturesque stroll through downtown Key West. Taking place at 12pm on New Year’s Eve, it’s a unique way to kick-off the celebrations early.
Sunset Celebration, Key West
The nightly festival does not stop for New Years – in fact, it’s more colorful and livelier than ever. See magicians, musicians, clowns and more as they entertain tourists and locals alike, beginning two hours before sunset.
