Battle in the Bay Dragon Boat Festival (June)
The tranquil waters off Sombrero Beach will be transformed into a swift racecourse, ready for a day of dragon boat racing. You can watch the action from dry land though, with food, beverages, and a whole host of entertainment available shoreside.
Marathon beach Party & Fireworks Show (July)
It isn’t Independence Day without a fireworks show, and Marathon puts on one of the largest and longest displays in the Keys. The day-long event kicks off with a patriotic parade, with food, drink, kids’ crafts, and entertainment capped off after dark with fireworks. Top tip: Our neighborhood is known as the ‘Boating Destination of the Keys,’ so we recommend watching the festivities on the water.
Seventh Annual Key Lime Festival (July)
Four days of delicious culinary events are planned for early July, celebrating our famous Key Lime Pie. Enjoy a wacky talent show, throw yourself into The Key Lime Pie Hop, and put your skills to the test in a cooking contest. Plus, do you have what it takes to be crowned the Key Lime Pie Eating World Champion?
Lobster Season (July/August)
Watch the frenzy as boaters descend on Marathon in search of delicious fresh Florida lobster during this two-day event in late July. Or head down to Key West and chow down on a lobster boil or street fare at the town’s famed Lobsterfest (August 8-11th)
